Why Become a Support Worker?

Becoming a support worker with Ortus means being part of a small, authentic team that values real connections, integrity, and giving people the autonomy to live life on their own terms.

It’s a chance to do meaningful work without the burnout culture—where your voice is heard, your strengths are valued, and you’re trusted to build relationships that actually matter.

We keep things flexible, realistic, and grounded in genuine support—for both our clients and our team.

Types of Support Work

Help Around the Home – Assist with daily tasks like cleaning, washing, cooking, and keeping the home environment comfortable and organised.

Mentoring – Provide guidance and encouragement to help participants achieve their goals in education, skill development, employment, and everyday life.

Personal Care – Support is provided with showering, toileting, and mealtime routines, both at home and in the community.

Transport – Help participants travel safely and comfortably using the most suitable option—whether that’s a support worker’s car, the participant’s vehicle, or public transport.

Community Access – Support participants to engage in their community, take part in activities, build connections, stay active, and explore new opportunities.

Outings & Social Events – Join us for a planned day trip or excursion, connect with your community, and take part in exciting activities.

At Ortus Support Services, we’re committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality support. That’s why every team member is required to complete a range of mandatory checks and certifications before commencing work with us.

Before joining the Ortus team, you’ll need to hold the following:

  • National Police Clearance

  • CPR and/or First Aid Certificate

  • Manual Handling Training

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate

  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance

  • DHS Working with Children Check

  • 100 Points of ID

We take these requirements seriously to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both our team and the people we support.
